FOURTEEN FIRE ENGINES CALLED IN AS BLAZE BRINGS TOWN CENTRE CHAOS

A MAJOR fire emergency brought a large section of Bexhill town centre to a halt this morning (Friday, August 27).

Fourteen fire engines and four ambulances attended the scene in Sackville Road and there was a strong police presence.

Flames shot through the roof of a third floor flat above shops on the western side of the road.

Thick smoke reduced visibility down the road to 20 yards.
