A sailor made a Mayday call fearing his yacht could be holed and possibly sink after it ran aground on Bognor rocks yesterday (Wednesday March 23).
Following the call to the coastguard, Littlehampton RNLI’s D Class lifeboat Ray of Hope launched at 5.07pm with volunteer crew Andy Harris, Rob Devo and Robert Winstanley aboard and headed out on a spring tide just before low water towards the casualty.
At the scene the lifeboat had to be carefully manoeuvred through the dangerous rocks to reach the vessel.
