It's the Blacklands Juggernaut v the Delight from the Isle of Wight

The latest was a 100m charity sprint-off between two of their members.

Great fun was had on the HY group’s Facebook page as Stewart Ide v Craig Sealby was promoted as the Blacklands Juggernaut v the Delight from the Isle of Wight.

The two racers generated interest by winding each other up with mock taunts while a video campaign was made by the imaginative skills of Fiona Norman Brown.

Members of the group were invited to place a £5 bet on the winner and the winning time and all money raised was donated to two very worthy homeless charities – Warming Up The Homeless and Surviving The Streets.

A secret location and date was set and along with a camera crew whose job it was to post a live feed to the group, the two runners were ready to go for their 100m sprint off.

An early lead from Sealby wasn’t enough to prevent Ide from accelerating home for the win in a time of 16:92 seconds.

Sophie McGoldrick correctly guessed the winning time and earned a bottle of bubbly in the process.

The club said the race was a huge success and stressed that everything was performed within social distancing measures.

It has been tough going as runners haven’t been able to train collectively as a club.

And with competitive events on hold at the moment, they are keen to do something for the members, who have been fully committed to the virtual challenges.

The support for this 100m race was magnificent.
