Appeal after A259 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a grey Seat and black Ford on the A259 near Hooe at around 10.30pm on Saturday (April 23).

The driver of the Seat, a 55-year-old man from Pevensey, had to be cut free from the car before being taken to hospital with a broken leg.

His two passengers, a 55-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl, both suffered minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

The driver of the Ford, a 28-year-old man from Bexhill, suffered minor injuries as did his three passengers: a 46-year-old woman from Bexhill, a 19-year-old woman from Bexhill and a 20-year-old man from Bexhill. They were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed until around 4am on Sunday for recovery work.

Four people were initially arrested at the scene, but then de-arrested pending further enquiries.

A 28-year-old man from Bexhill was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without a license, failing to stop after a road accident and driving without insurance. He was bailed until 28 June.
