A restaurant customer was attacked by a man wielding a baseball bat in a '˜nasty' attack in Crawley on Monday (May 2), police said.

The victim, a 32-year-old local man, was sat inside Chicko’s in The Boulevard at about 7pm when he was attacked by two men who entered the restaurant.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said one man hit him over the head with a baseball bat and the second punched him.

The victim suffered cuts and bruises that required hospital treatment, the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said: “It is believed the two suspects, along with two other men, drove off in a dark coloured people carrier with taxi markings parked behind the Old Punch Bowl pub.”
