FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT: The Hellingly Festival of Transport will be held as usual over the August Bank Holiday weekend at Broad Farm, Hellingly. This year will be the 41st annual event organised by the Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club. On show over the 3 days will be some 1000 historic vehicles of all sizes and types, together with associated memorabilia. Some of the exhibits will be approaching 100 years old and all credit must go to the respective owners for their efforts in keeping our transport heritage alive. In addition, there is something for all the family, with the Harris Bros. vintage fairground, Huxley’s Birds of Prey displays, children’s attractions, a large variety of trade and autojumble stalls, the Sunday church service with the Rev. David Farey and a beer/catering tent with live entertainment. FOT Chairman, David Bone said, “It is an amazing achievement that, from small beginnings, our show has grown into one of the largest 3-day historic vehicle events in the south east. As well as showcasing our transport heritage over the years the EHVC has donated well over £100,000 to local organisations and charities from the proceeds of the shows.” The event is open from 10am until 5pm each day. Admission is £10 for adults, £2 for children and £7 for seniors. Car parking is free. Stagecoach bus route 51 passes the showground. Further information about the show and the EHVC is available from the Club web site www.ehvc.biz.
HELLINGLY CHURCH: The church is running a cake stall throughout the Festival of Transport from Friday 26 to Monday 29 August. Also, there will be a worship service held in the field at the event on Sunday 28.
