audience for his late afternoon/early evening slot.
"The theatre is an amenity. If it doesn't get used, we will lose it. The council as sure as eggs are eggs will close it, and then it would take millions to open it again."
Mitchell has come up with a show he's confident will appeal: "There are four singers and it's a show we have been touring with now for about 15 years on ships, in cabaret and in theatres. It has toured all over the
country. It's a well-honed production.
"It's the musicals, the show stuff. The whole thing is, as the title says, the West End in concert.

"I think Joseph is the most modern show we do.
"There are extracts from about 15 or 16 shows. The first segment is Miss Saigon and South Pacific, which has an obvious connection.
"Then we have a little bit of narrative and then we move on to the next section which will be West Side Story.
"We usually take a ten-to-12 minutes section from each show. The fact there are the four of us means it is not just a succession of solos.
"We like to build up a scenario for each particular show."
Tickets on 01243 861010.
