New partnership creating jobs for city's armed forces veterans
The new partnership between housing association The Hyde Group and The Royal British Legion’s employability service Civvy Street, will provide training, work experience and full time employment opportunities on Hyde building projects.
The first placements are planned as part of Hyde’s latest project to build 65 new homes with new employment space at New Wave in Hove.

Hide AdTom Shaw, Hyde development director (south), said: “Military leavers possess valuable transferable skills in leadership, teamwork and project management, in addition to strong technical skills gained during their service.
“The construction industry in Brighton and Hove is presently facing a serious skills shortage; this partnership with Civvy Street will help to plug that gap along with Hyde’s other initiatives to employ local labour and our established relationships with local colleges to provide apprenticeships”.
Mike Harrison from Civvy Street said: “We hope that as many service leavers or ex-service personnel benefit from this partnership and build a successful career, reaching their full potential in civilian life.”
Craig Spence from The Royal British Legion said: “This partnership is a perfect example of how business can benefit from the range of skills and experience that service men and women develop through their service in our armed forces.
