Dim view of light
After more than 25 years without a street light, we now have one only a few metres from our house.
No warning, no discussion and when we complained we were told in so many words: “Tough luck, it’s there to stay.”

Hide AdThe post is ugly and intrusive, and if we wanted a house with a street light, then we would have bought one.
There was even some confusion as to where the post was to be sighted, with two holes dug. We are still awaiting the light guard to be fitted by contractors SSE.
Why, when the new posts could have been sited next to existing ones, have we been given no say, no appeal or no recourse to the re-siting of the post? It seems this is another example of authorities riding roughshod over the rights and opinions of the individual.
By the way, the roadwork barriers are still up in Beaumont Park after almost two months.
