Three couples have come together to reopen a restaurant and venue with a 1920's theme and a focus on providing good times.

The Sackville Bar & Grill opened its doors once again last month and is now doing food as well after the 12 new owners took over at the start of the year.

Weddings have already been booked, an Adele tribute act is sold out and plans are in place for a whiskey and gin ‘snug’.

Co-owner Julie Ball hopes the relaunch will encourage more people to venture further down the seafront.

“We’re aware of the hive of activity around the De La Warr Pavilion but we want people to come down this area as we have the best views,” she said.

“We just don’t want people to forget about us up this end of the seafront.”

Julie and her husband Bobby Ball took over the Sackville restaurant with Lee and Sue Holdaway and Tracy and Len Watkinson-Aldous.

The six have high hopes for the restaurant with an all-new menu, refurbishments throughout, West End performers and more in the pipeline.

“The best thing about this place is that there’s no place like this in Bexhill,” Len said.

“It’s all under one roof.”

Next door are around 120 retirement flats and Julie said they have been getting involved with the restaurant, making suggestions –apparently bringing back the Sunday carvery is a must –and providing feedback.

“They are starting to feel like it’s their restaurant which is great,” Julie said.
