Worthing seal second successive promotion
Worthing won the National League Division 2 South title after victory over Bath Mavericks in their final game of the season. Worthing won 16 of their 18 league games and will now face strong teams from across the country, including Bristol, Tameside and Loughborough next season.
The season had started well for Worthing as they welcomed new players, Tracy Hemery and Paulina Wozna, who are both experienced setters, from last year’s local rivals, Sussex Dolphins.

Hide AdCait Donnelly, who has represented Northern Ireland in beach volleyball, and Kathy Green, an experienced international player from Portsmouth, also joined the club during the season.
The players joining helped ease the pressure on the club, with three members on maternity leave and another leaving for university.
The commitment and dedication of the players and coaches, Dan Wright and Mark Byerley, helped build a strong and focused team.
The season came down to a title decider earlier this month at Worthing’s home ground, Lancing Leisure Centre, when they took on Bath.

Worthing met City of Salford in the last eight and lost the first set 25-23, before a strong Salford side then sealed the win.
